Andy MacDonald
is MASSPIRG's Organizing Director. Andy MacDonald graduated from
Cornell University in 1983 with a degree in Ancient Greek History. He
got his start canvassing in Boulder with CoPIRG in the summer of 1983
and has devoted his life to organizing and activism with PIRG ever
since. Andy has run many campaigns for PIRG, including starting new
campus chapters and running environmental ballot initiatives. In 1999,
Andy started an organization called ecopledge.com, an organization
which works to hold corporations accountable for their environmental
practices. He organized the ECOnferences in 1999 and 2001, both of
which attracted close to 2,000 students from around the country.
In
2003, Andy assumed the role of Assistant National Campus Organizing
Director. In that capacity, he works with PIRG campus chapters all
across the country, as well the PIRGs' National Student Projects, which
includes the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness
and Free the Planet. Andy has directed summer campaign offices in
Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Colorado and
California.
