With just over 4 weeks left in this legislative session the House Ways and Means Committee  released an economic development bill which included an 8 word provision striking the current law banning most gifts from the pharmaceutical industry to physicians designed to increase the sale of newer, more costly prescription drugs.

Letter Dear Representative, The drug companies spend $7 billion annually marketing their drugs to physicians. The RX Drug Marketing Gift Ban is essential in helping to rein in our skyrocketing health care costs, which were predicted to double by 2016. Please vote against language that would repeal or gut the pharmaceutical and medical device company gift ban and disclosure law. Vote yes on Amendments #45 and #13 filed by Representatives Provost, Lewis and Wolf to preserve the RX Gift Ban by striking section 105 from the Economic Development Bill (H. 4820). Vote no on Amendment #67 filed by Representative Michlewitz gutting the gift ban by exempting restaurants or meals from the gift ban. Thank you.
