Celebrate July 4th by E-mailing Gov. Patrick to Make the Government Transparent
Last week, with many of your e-mails and phone calls, both the House of Representatives and the Senate passed two significant government transparency and accountability reforms; the first requires more transparency of certain tax subsidies and the second requires the state to create a comprehensive, easy to use state budget and spending website. Those reforms were included in the 2011 Fiscal Year budget, passed by the legislature, now awaiting Gov. Deval Patrick’s final approval.
Gov. Patrick has been a leader on these issues, filing similar amendments in earlier budgets. Thank Gov. Patrick for his leadership, and urge him to pass the budget quickly.
