Petition Text: As a nation, we are too dependent on cars for transportation. They're also the number one cause of our addiction to oil and a major contributor to global warming and air pollution. Residents in the Greater Boston area alone are wasting 93 million hours each year on congested roads and 62.5 million gallons of gas because of that congestion. That's $1.8 billion each year in wasted time and fuel. Now is the time to make real transit change happen. We must move toward a new transportation future for the 21st
century, with public transportation playing a central role, enhancing our
economy, national security, public health, environment, and quality of life. Therefore, I support transit improvement and expansion projects included in the transportation bond legislation.
