The Consumer Federation of America (CFA), a nationwide coalition of consumer advocacy organizations, has a new president: MASSPIRG’s Executive Director Janet Domenitz (pictured below being sworn in along with the entire CFA board at the 2016 annual meeting). MASSPIRG is a long-time member of the CFA and this is Janet’s second time serving as president. The CFA and MASSPIRG have worked together on a number of consumer campaigns, including helping to establish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The 2016 annual meeting brought together a diverse group of experienced consumer advocates, from former Congressman Henry Waxman to U.S. PIRG’s Ed Mierzwinski, and served as a reminder of the important work we still have left to do, from protecting the CFPB’s role as a useful tool for consumers, to ensuring that victims of the VW emissions scandal are properly compensated. We’re proud MASSPIRG is a leader in the consumer movement, and excited by the opportunities Janet’s term as president provides.
